The Military Model from Spyderco is a legendary staple in the world of folding knives, and after more than two decades of excellence, it’s been reimagined in the form of the Military 2. Introduced at the 2022 BLADE Show in Atlanta, this updated version blends the classic design with modern innovations, earning it the prestigious American-Made Knife of the Year award.
 
Co-designed by Sal and Eric Glesser, the Military 2 integrates the proven Compression Lock mechanism, offering superior strength and safety compared to the original LinerLock. This mechanism allows for one-handed closing without putting your fingers in harm’s way. Spyderco also introduced a precision-machined bushing for perfect blade alignment and tension.
 
The Military 2 keeps its slim profile with peel-ply-textured G10 scales, while now featuring larger, skeletonized stainless steel liners that add strength while trimming the weight. The open-backed construction makes cleaning easy, and the four-position pocket clip provides fully customizable carry options, a significant improvement over the original’s single-position clip.
 
Ergonomic enhancements include a slightly larger index-finger choil and a narrowed handle for improved comfort and control. The 4" CPM-S30V stainless steel blade, a full-flat grind with a black DLC finish, delivers the reliable performance that Spyderco is known for. As this new model evolves, expect more blade steel and handle material options in future releases.
