The Spyderco Lil' Temperance 3 Lightweight continues the legacy of one of Spyderco's most iconic designs, combining compact utility with the spirit of "Martial Blade Craft." Designed by Spyderco co-founder Sal Glesser, this knife honors his roots, shaped by both streetwise experiences in Brooklyn and his dedication to edged-weapon training. The Lil' Temperance 3 Lightweight offers an upgraded, leaner version of its predecessors, maintaining its reputation as both a personal-defense tool and a reliable utility knife.
 
The original Lil' Temperance (2001) introduced a full-flat ground CPM S30V blade paired with a Compression Lock mechanism, designed for strength and performance. Over the years, Spyderco refined the design with enhanced ergonomic handles, including the Lil' Temperance 2, which featured a trailing-point blade, perfect for self-defense maneuvers. The Lil' Temperance 3 (2017) returned with a sleeker, more simplified form while keeping all the strength and precision of the original.
 
In 2022, Spyderco took the next step with the Lil' Temperance 3 Lightweight, replacing the G-10 scales with fiberglass-reinforced-nylon (FRN) for a lighter, more textured handle. This new handle material features a Bi-Directional Texture pattern for improved grip security in all conditions, especially in high-stress situations. Despite the change in material, the weight reduction is minimal (only 0.2 oz), with the overall knife remaining just as durable and reliable.
 
The Lil' Temperance 3 Lightweight is equipped with a stout 2.92-inch VG-10 stainless steel leaf-shaped blade that offers excellent edge retention and cutting power. The blade features a full-flat grind, ensuring optimal geometry for slicing and precision tasks. A textured thumb ramp provides added control during use, and the Compression Lock ensures secure blade retention.
The handle includes strategically placed divots and a four-position pocket clip, which allows for ambidextrous, tip-up or tip-down carry. This makes the Lil' Temperance 3 Lightweight an ideal tool for both utility and self-defense needs.
