Typical of Chris Reeve Knives, the pivot strength of the Umnumzaan is more robust than other folders. The large pivot screw and pin are supported by perforated phosphor bronze thrust washers, reducing friction and retaining fluorinated grease for longer lubrication, thereby extending the knife's life.
Ceramic Ball - The Integral Lock's Upgraded Interface
A ceramic ball creates the interface between the blade locking surface and the integral locking arm surface. It also drops into a detent on the blade to prevent accidental opening. The thumb lug, doubling as the stop pin, ensures solid lockup. A polyurethane o-ring around the lug acts as a shock absorber, cushioning the impact of the lug against the handle. This innovative feature, inspired by Grant and Gavin Hawk, highlights the Umnumzaan's unique design.
