AXIS Lock A Benchmade exclusive, the patented AXIS Lock has garnered acclaim for its 100 percent ambidextrous design. Utilizing a small, hardened steel bar that moves within a slot machined into steel liners, this mechanism ensures reliable functionality. The bar spans both sides of the knife, covering the liners and positioning itself over the rear of the blade. Engaging a ramped tang section of the knife when opened, it achieves a secure lock. Supported by two omega-style springs, the locking bar gains inertia to effectively engage the knife tang, creating a solid wedge between a substantial stop pin and the AXIS bar.
