The turning point came with the development of the Native 5, Spyderco's fifth-generation evolution, featuring a refined lockback mechanism. This advancement paved the way for the resurrection of the Native Chief, blending timeless design with modern innovations.
 
The Native Chief Lightweight, an extended version of the iconic Spyderco Native, boasts a 21% weight reduction compared to its predecessor. Featuring a fiberglass-reinforced nylon (FRN) handle with high-traction Bi-Directional Texturing, this model preserves the precision-machined lockback mechanism. The full-flat ground CTS-BD1N stainless steel blade with a Trademark Round Hole ensures optimal performance.
