In essence, the Shaman embodies Spyderco's best-selling Native model but on a heightened scale. Initially launched in 1997, the Native set the standard as an affordable, ergonomic, lightweight folder, and played a pivotal role in introducing Spyderco's patented reversible pocket clip—an innovative feature at the time. While stainless steel and carbon fiber versions were briefly produced in Japan, the Native Lightweight became a flagship of Spyderco's American-made line, showcasing superior quality and craftsmanship at an exceptionally affordable price.

At its core, the Shaman boasts a CPM S30V stainless steel blade featuring a high saber (partial flat) grind and a prominent swedge. The blade's signature Trademark Round Hole enables swift, one-handed opening with either hand.
