Kevin Smock's journey into knife design is rooted in childhood memories of hunting and fishing with his father. His passion for knives took a serious turn around 2012 when he began customizing factory-made knives, eventually founding Bower Bladeworks. Transitioning from product design to full-time knifemaking, Smock's innovative designs caught the attention of Spyderco, leading to their first collaboration.
The Spyderco Smock stays true to Smock's original SK23 design, featuring a sleek front flipper and a unique button-release Compression Lock mechanism. Crafted from CPM S30V stainless steel, its hollow-ground blade offers a perfect balance of strength and utility. With both a Trademark Round Hole and an index-finger flipper, the Smock ensures swift, ambidextrous one-hand opening.
The handle of the Smock is built on a framework of full, skeletonized stainless steel liners, providing a sturdy foundation for the Compression Lock. Textured carbon fiber/G10 laminate scales reduce weight and add to the knife's unique aesthetic.
